Original Characters Now Accepted!
Amongst the Wave is now accepting original characters!
Applying for an original character is done via the same application as canon characters, however, there are a few extra rules to keep in mind.
1) Your character, like all the others at Amongst the Wave, is a human being with no special powers. If you originally created the character in a universe where special powers of some type exist, they need to be converted just as you would a canon character, creating a history and current state of being that fits with a ‘real-world’ game.
PBs for OCs follow the same rules as for canon characters. However, you may also chose to use an obscure-canon manga character as a PB for your OC, just include who on your app. If the mods decide the character is one likely to be apped, you will be asked to choose another PB.
2) Be sure to include all the major details about your character in your app. Unlike a canon character, where certain things can sometimes be assumed to be the same even in an AU world, we have nothing to reference when it comes to your character. If you’re attached to your character having a certain job history, skill set, or area of interest, it needs to go in the app. That isn’t to say that every tiny thing has to be listed: no one’s going to mind if you later decide your character is a good cook. But anything out of the ordinary or ‘exceptional’ needs to be on there.
3) Physical descriptions and personality descriptions need to be a little more in-depth! Even if you are choosing a PB for the character, we like to see details whenever possible! “Wavy light auburn hair with a tendency to frizz in certain weather’ is better than ‘is a redhead’.
As for the personality section, it’s doubly important because absolutely no one knows this character but you. (Shh those of you who played yours together elsewhere). Use as much detail as possible!
4) Because it's a littler harder to gauge if an original character will fit in the game, all original characters must run a 'test log' with a mod before beginning play in the comm as a whole. It won't be long or stressful, just a little more of a chance for us to get to know the character! If any issues come up in that log, changes might be required before the character is fully accepted.
